January 9: Turf Day
Chaired by Madeline Flahive DiNardo, County Agricultural Agent, Rutgers NJAES Cooperative Extension of Union County, Turf Day will feature five talks on various aspects of turf management. Calibration, slow release fertilizers, controlling turf diseases, and white grubs are a few of the topics that will be discussed. Plus, attendees will get to review the 2016 growing season and leave the program with tips on what to look for in 2017!
January 10: Tree Day
Chaired by Jan Zientak and Rachel DeFlumeri of Rutgers NJAES Cooperative Extension, Tree Day has been designed to provide information to help arborists, grounds managers, and others who are responsible for caring for trees. City canopy coverage, invasive species, pesticide use, and mitigating tree health decline are a few of the topics that will be covered during this program. Speakers include staff from the Rutgers Urban Forestry Program, The Morris Arboretum, NJ Invasive Species Strike Team, and more.
January 11: Landscape Day
Chaired by Joel Flagler, County Agricultural Agent, Rutgers NJAES Cooperative Extension of Bergen County, Landscape Day is a great opportunity for landscape professionals to hear the latest updates on key industry topics and expand their skills in new areas. Speakers from Rutgers University, the NJDEP, and private nurseries will present talks on topics including best shrubs for the landscape, best herbaceous perennials for the landscape, NJDEP Pesticide Control Program update, and pests to watch for this growing season.
These educational programs are aimed at professionals in the green industry and feature speakers who are leading experts from Cooperative Extension, state government, and private industry.
