Synopsis: This au pair weekend course will offer an overview of the history of American food for the past 250 years, from colonial to modern times.

Additional Information:

Students will learn about how technological and societal factors have changed what and how Americans eat. This interactive program will include:

  • a visit to a research farm, where novel plant and animal breeding techniques are developed
  • a tour of Rutgers' world renowned food science research facilities, where the staff works to develop of new, wholesome, nutritious, and innovative food products for world-wide markets

Lunch each day will incorporate the theme of the program and will include tastings that will allow attendees to experience the changes firsthand.

This program will give attendees three of the six educational credits required under the J-1 visa.
