Additional Information: The event includes the very popular tasting of more than 80 heirloom and hybrid varieties of beefsteak, plum, cherry, and grape tomatoes. Other highlights include tastings of a variety of farm grown fruits and vegetables and recipes featuring Jersey Fresh produce. Open House features include the Melda C. Snyder Teaching Garden which showcases demonstration gardens of deer tolerant ornamentals; Blueberries, Hazelnuts, Dogwoods, and Hollies from the Rutgers breeding programs; a turf labyrinth; vegetables for small space gardening and an "apple wall" featuring the NJAES Tree Fruit Breeding Program for home orchards. Wagon tours of the farm's research plots will be held throughout the event. Also, chef preparations of several recipes, educational displays from various organizations and fun family farm photo opportunities. Rutgers NJAES faculty and staff and Rutgers Master Gardener volunteers will be available to provide information and answer your gardening questions.
