Synopsis: Dietary polyphenols have been associated with lowered risk of chronic disease, but mechanisms of action have been elusive due to their poor absorption. Recent work has demonstrated that dietary polyphenols & plant components may benefit host health indirectly through alteration of gut microbiota.
