Sampling is necessary to ensure that the drinking water you produce meets applicable regulatory standards and determine if your system is operating the way it should be. Sampling also allows you to monitor the effectiveness of treatment techniques and to collect information to see if there is a way that things could be done in a better way!

Specific topics will include:

  • The basic science of laboratory practices;
  • How to properly sample (including bacteriological sampling);
  • Sampling under the Revised Total Coliform Rule;
  • Collection techniques for TTHM/HAA5 and metals; and
  • Quality control and analysis/instrument calibrations.

Hands-on exercises with actual equipment will reinforce the concepts and information presented in the classroom.
