Synopsis: RNA polymerase (RNAP) stalled at DNA lesions mediates the recruitment of DNA repair enzymes, thereby expediting the recognition of DNA damage the process known as transcription-coupled DNA repair (TCR). The molecular mechanism of TCR has not been well understood either in bacteria or eukaryotes.
